Introduction
Neo Student Living is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and comfortable living and working environment for all residents and staff. This Smoking Policy is designed to reduce the health risks associated with smoking and second hand smoke, preserve the cleanliness of our living environments, and ensure compliance with legal and health standards.
Policy Statement
Neo Student Living prohibits smoking of tobacco, herbs, and other smoke-producing substances including electronic cigarettes, and vapes within all indoor areas of the property. This includes all private residential rooms, common spaces, hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, and other communal areas.
Areas Affected
- Private Residential Rooms: Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all residential rooms within the property.
- Common Areas: All indoor common areas are smoke-free zones.
- Outdoor Areas: Smoking is permitted only in designated smoking areas outside the buildings to ensure that exit and entry points, windows, and ventilation systems are free from the impact of smoke.
Designated Smoking Areas
- Specific areas on the property grounds have been designated as smoking areas. These areas are clearly marked with signs and equipped with appropriate receptacles for disposing of cigarette butts and other smoking materials.
- Residents and guests are required to use these designated areas for smoking and ensure that all smoking materials are extinguished and disposed of properly.
Responsibilities of Residents and Guests
- Residents are responsible for ensuring that they and their guests comply with this policy.
- Breaches of this policy by residents or their guests may result in disciplinary action, which could include fines and/or termination of the tenancy agreement.
Enforcement
- Staff Responsibilities: Our staff are responsible for enforcing this policy. This includes providing information about the policy to residents and guests, monitoring compliance, and managing reports of policy violations.
- Reporting Violations: Residents are encouraged to report any instances of smoking outside the designated areas to the on-site accommodation team. Reports can be treated confidentially upon request.
Health and Support
- Neo Student Living encourages residents who smoke and wish to quit to seek support.
- Information on quitting smoking and the benefits of quitting can also be found on various health organisation websites, which we can provide links to upon request.
Review and Modifications
- This policy is reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness. Any modifications to the policy will be communicated to all residents and staff promptly through our standard communication channels.
Compliance
Compliance with this smoking policy forms part of the terms of the tenancy agreement for residents at Neo Student Living. Failure to adhere to this policy constitutes a breach of these terms and may result in penalties.
